19th of July – Nomads Gathering at de Vondelbunker!

On Sunday the 19th I played a set at the Nomads Gathering in de Vondelbunker, a diy free cultural space underneath a bridge in Amsterdams’ lush Vondelpark. A tram passed overhead every few minutes or so, making the whole place ‘tramble’. I tried to adjust my (mostly three-and-a-bit-minutes long) songs to this new urban metronome.

Alright enough puns already! It was a nice experience to play there, I’m starting to feel at home in Amsterdam more and more. Places like these are so inspiring. The whole festival dealt with the sharing of stories on traveling and swapping tips and tricks for instance for (aspiring) female solo travellers. And also about inspiration and about (being) privilege(d) to travel and have adventures too. The program thankfully also dealt with this subject and activism and awareness, I felt. Everyone, regardless of anything like documents, race, gender or economic status should be able and free to explore the beautiful world we live in. Although I know I just said I’m starting to feel at home here, I feel like travelling again too..
